Kenya Sees Record Covid-19 Recoveries Amid Ongoing Pandemic

On August 4, 2020, Kenya marked a significant milestone in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, with the highest number of recoveries recorded since the country's first positive case on March 13, 2020.

The Health Ministry announced that 587 people had recovered from the virus, surpassing the previous record of 570 recoveries. This brings the total number of recoveries to 9,327.

Of the new recoveries, 500 patients were under home-based care, while 87 were being treated in various hospitals across the country.

During the same update, the Health Ministry also reported 605 additional positive cases, bringing the total number of cases to 23,202. The new cases included 528 Kenyans and 27 foreigners, with the youngest case being a two-month-old infant and the oldest a 99-year-old individual.

As of August 4, 2020, the country had tested a total of 322,923 samples for the new coronavirus.
