As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact global supply chains, the cost of construction materials for buildings has risen by up to 6.5 percent, according to a report by the Architectural Association of Kenya.

Published on January 1, 2020, the report highlights the challenges faced by the construction industry due to the pandemic.

One of the key factors contributing to the increase in construction costs is the impact of COVID-19 restrictions in China on the global supply of construction materials.

As a result, low-cost housing projects are being affected, with some developers considering cutting back on their projects.

However, the health sector has seen an increase in construction activities, with both private and government health facilities racing to build COVID-19 centers.

The Architectural Association of Kenya is urging developers to construct houses with amenities such as isolation rooms and ventilation systems that can support homeowners during a pandemic.
