On Tuesday, August 4, 2020, the Trans Nzoia County launched a tree planting initiative as part of the National Hygiene Programme to beautify Kitale town.
The programme, which aims to improve the cleanliness of towns in the country, involves planting trees and flowers to enhance the town's beauty.
Deputy Governor Dr. Stanley Tarus officiated the function, alongside the Trans Nzoia County Commissioner, Samson Ojwang.
Dr. Tarus stated that at least 10,000 tree seedlings will be planted across the county by the end of the national hygiene programme.
He emphasized the importance of taking care of the trees and making sure that Kitale is beautified through the national hygiene programme for the next six months and beyond.
Mr. Ojwang assured youths in the programme of more support from the government through the Uwezo fund programme.
He advised youths engaged in the Kazi Mtaani programme to use their payments in a resourceful manner so as to help boost their livelihood.
At least over 4,000 youths have been enrolled in the programme, earning Sh455 per day for the next six months.
