On August 1, 2020, Kenya Airways resumed international flights at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, marking a significant milestone in the country's efforts to revive its economy.
Businesses at the airport, which had been closed due to the ban on international flights, are now dusting off their shelves and preparing for the influx of customers.
At Tembo Bistro & Bar, staff are donning protective masks and gloves, while customers are expected to adhere to social distancing measures.
"We are happy with the resumption of local and international flights," said Mohsine Korich of Tembo Bistro & Bar.
Other duty-free shops at the airport are also gearing up for business, with some even opening earlier to accommodate the trickle of passengers.
Major international passenger airlines have resumed flights through JKIA, following Kenya's easing of air travel restrictions.
