Published on August 4, 2020, the proposed revenue sharing formula has been at the center of major discussions around the country, with many expressing concerns over its implementation.

The formula, which targets to share the national revenue based on the latest population statistics, is set to benefit counties with a large population more compared to the old formula where resources were shared based on the geographical size of the county.

However, senators from the Tangatanga affiliate group have ganged up with some of their NASA counterparts in a bid to bring down the formula. In preparation for the vote, parallel formulas have been lined up just in case the proposed one fails.

Senators Sakaja, Ole Kina, and Malala have prepared new formulas that could be discussed during the special seating. The three young senators have been vocal against the proposed formula, with Malala stating that the country faces one of the biggest decisions ever and he aims to make sure his name is recorded on the right side of history books.

According to reports, the three senators, along with four others, have been forced to switch off their phones from Monday to avoid systematic whipping from their respective party leaders.
