Kenya's Ministry of Devolution has taken drastic measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 after 18 staff members tested positive for the virus.

According to an internal memo dated July 23, 2020, Principal Secretary Charles Sunkuli informed staff that 18 officers tested positive out of 128 samples tested.

“Following the mass testing for COVID-19 that was done on July 23, 2020, it has come to our attention that 18 officers tested positive for the disease out of 128 samples. The purpose of this memo is to request you to inform all officers working in your departments to isolate themselves for the next two weeks from 3rd to 16th August, 2020.” Sunkuli said in the memo.

Staff are required to self-isolate from August 3 to 16, with those who tested positive expected to return to work on August 17 and undergo another round of testing.

The ministry has thanked all staff who undertook the test and assured that all staff will be subjected to testing upon reporting back to work.
