Kenya's Devolution Ministry is taking precautions to contain the spread of COVID-19 after 18 staff members tested positive for the disease.

According to an internal memo, Principal Secretary Charles Sunkuli instructed all staff to self-isolate for two weeks after the positive test results were confirmed on July 23, 2020.

Mass testing was conducted on 128 staff members, and the 18 positive cases were identified after the results were received.

As a result, the staff will be required to isolate themselves from August 3rd to 16th, 2020, before returning to work on August 17th, 2020.

Following the two-week isolation period, another round of mass testing will be conducted to ensure the staff are safe to return to work.

Principal Secretary Charles Sunkuli expressed gratitude to the officers who undertook the test and acknowledged the delay in receiving the test results.
