Liverpool's Title Win a 'Gift that Keeps on Giving', Says Owner Henry

August 4, 2020, marked a historic day for Liverpool Football Club as they claimed their 19th top-flight league title, ending a 30-year wait. Owner John W. Henry expressed his pride and gratitude to the team's supporters, describing the title win as a 'gift that keeps on giving.'

Henry, whose Fenway Sports Group took over Liverpool in October 2010, praised the team's manager, Juergen Klopp, for his role in the club's success. Klopp led the team to their sixth Champions League crown last season, and Henry credited him with instilling a positive and determined attitude within the team.

"It was a long time coming," Henry said in an interview with the club website. "I just want to say (to the supporters) that you've waited a long time for this... this really feels sort of like the gift that keeps on giving."

Henry also acknowledged the team's character and resilience, which he believed were key factors in their success. "Every day I get up, it's front and centre that we won (in) England finally," he said. "So, that's my wish for you, that every morning you get up for the next, as long as you can accomplish it, think about what we accomplished this year in Europe, England and I hope you feel as proud as I do."
