KDF Plane Crashes in Somalia

On August 3, 2020, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter crashed in Dhobley, Lower Jubba region in Somalia, sparking concerns about the safety of military operations in the region.

According to sources in Somalia, the helicopter was on a return trip after delivering significant supplies to AMISOM sector two.

Seven occupants of the logistics military plane sustained injuries in the crash, including the pilot, with three injured military personnel airlifted to Nairobi for further medical attention.

The remaining four who sustained minor injuries are being treated at AMISOM Level II Hospital in Dhobley, which is manned by KDF soldiers.

More information is expected to be released as the investigation into the crash continues.
