David Murathe, Jubilee Vice Chair, has found himself at the center of a Ksh 4 billion scandal involving the purchase of COVID-19 medical equipment.
According to reports, a company associated with Murathe's Personal Assistant, Willbroad Gatei Gachoka, was awarded a tender to supply thousands of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) at inflated prices.
The company, Kiliq Ltd, was awarded a Ksh 4 billion tender to supply 450,000 pieces of PPE kits, which include an N95 mask, a bodysuit, goggles, waterproof shoe covers, and gloves.
However, blogger Robert Alai has unmasked the real faces behind the company, revealing that the phone number registered in the name of Willbroad Gatei Gachoka belongs to Gachoka, who is the Personal Assistant to David Murathe.
Alai's findings have sparked controversy, with many questioning how a company associated with a senior Jubilee politician could be awarded such a large tender.
As the scandal continues to unfold, it remains to be seen whether investigating agencies will take action against Murathe and his associates.
