BMW Drivers Caught Racing on Mombasa Road ¶
On August 2, 2020, a Twitter user named Faith Kanja shared a shocking video of two drivers racing along Mombasa Road, completely disregarding the risks they posed to other road users.
The video, which has since gone viral, shows two BMWs, one with the registration KBS 478, speeding and dangerously overtaking, with one of them almost hitting a motorcyclist. Not long after, the footage depicts the two vehicles crashing by the side of the road.
According to Faith, the speeding drivers crashed after reaching a diversion and hitting barriers. The black BMW had a wrecked bumper, while the silver car had damage to the front.
After the shocking footage went viral, Twitter 'investigators' soon traced the cars parked at an estate in Athi River. Faith expressed hope that the drivers learned their lesson from the incident.
Reactions from Kenyans on Twitter ranged from shock and concern to criticism of the drivers' reckless behavior. Some users praised the motorcyclist who warned the drivers about their speeding, while others questioned the drivers' judgment and the consequences of their actions.
As the video continues to circulate, it serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution and responsibility on the roads.
