Kenya's Covid-19 Containment Protocols Impressed a US-based Kenyan

President Kenyatta's administration has faced criticism for its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, but a US-based Kenyan woman has a different story to tell.

She traveled from Baltimore, Maryland to Kenya last week and was impressed by the Covid-19 containment protocols Kenya put in place as international flights resumed on August 1st, 2020.

She says what she saw made her proud to be a Kenyan. Below is her full story.

On Friday, July 31st, 2020, she arrived at BWI airport in Baltimore, Maryland, to start her long-awaited and anticipated return home as the Kenyan government was finally opening its international airspace.

At BWI, her first moment of being proudly Kenyan happened mixed with a tad of anxiety when the Delta check-in crew told her Kenya had suspended flights into its airspace.

However, she was relieved to learn that by the time she arrived in Kenya 39 hours later, it would be August 1st, 2020, and the airspace would be open.

She was impressed by the strict entry requirements of Kenya, which included a COVID test and entry authorization forms.

At Schipol airport in Amsterdam, she found a special screening area specifically for flights to Kenya to adhere to Kenya's strict entry requirements.

She was proud to see that Kenya was taking its Covid-19 containment protocols seriously, and she was impressed by the measures in place to protect its citizens.

She was also impressed by the disinfection protocols in place at JKIA, where planes were being sprayed to disinfect them.

She says that she was in full bragging mode about her beloved Kenya, and she was proud to be a Kenyan.
