Kenya's COVID-19 cases continue to rise, with 544 new cases reported on Monday, bringing the country's total to 22,597.
As the country grapples with the pandemic, the Devolution ministry has been hit hard, with 18 staffers testing positive for the virus.
According to a memo issued by PS Charles Sunkuli, tests were conducted on 128 samples on July 23, and the results revealed the alarming number of positive cases.
The affected staffers have been ordered to self-isolate for two weeks, with their return to work scheduled for August 17, when another round of mass testing will be conducted.
Meanwhile, a recent analysis by scientists from the Kenya Medical Research Institute-Wellcome Trust in Kilifi has estimated that at least 1.6 million Kenyans may be infected with COVID-19, with the exposure possibly higher due to the limited age range of the analysis.
