Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Director-General Mohammed Badi has been at the center of controversy in the past, but on July 28, 2020, he was addressing the press at the KICC, as seen in the photo above.

On August 4, 2020, the Nairobi County Assembly passed a motion urging the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) to take over stalled county projects under the transport, health, planning, and housing dockets.

The MCAs accused the county government of not handing over some of the development projects under the transferred functions, citing protracted wrangles between Governor Mike Sonko and NMS Director-General Mohamed Badi as the main reason for the stalled projects.

Clay City Ward MCA Samora Mwaura, who moved the motion, called on the NMS to directly engage the contractors implementing the stalled projects, saying it was within Badi's office to obtain necessary documentation from the contractors.

According to Mwaura, the stalled projects were a result of the lack of documentation, as seen in the case of a road project in his ward, which was 75% complete but stalled due to a single signature.

Other MCAs, including Ziwani/Kariokor MCA Millicent Mugadi and Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto, echoed Mwaura's sentiments, saying that the management of projects by the NMS would translate to quality services and save contractors a lot of stress.
