On a chilly May morning in 2020, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Rashid Aman addressed the media at Afya House, warning of a Covid-19 spike.
According to Dr Aman, the current cold season is linked to the surge in Covid-19 cases, with those with respiratory conditions being more susceptible to infections.
"There has been an upsurge of Covid-19 cases in the cold season. Tuberculosis cases also tend to rise during the cold season. Those with respiratory conditions need to take extra care," Dr Aman said.
He advised the public to take precautions, including keeping warm, staying hydrated, wearing masks, engaging in physical exercises, and adhering to prescribed medications.
While the government will not force passengers arriving in the country into quarantine, each passenger must produce a Covid-19 certificate indicating they are negative.
