On August 3, 2020, the Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) made a significant announcement regarding former Yanga coach Luc Eymael.

Following a disciplinary hearing, Eymael was banned from coaching in Tanzania for two years and fined Tsh8 million (approximately Sh400,000) for inciting and uttering words considered to be racist.

The ruling came just a week after Eymael was fired by Yanga for referring to Tanzanian football fans as 'monkeys and illiterate' in his post-match comments during the 2020/2021 league season final game against Lipuli.

Despite apologizing for the incident, Eymael claimed he was provoked by a Simba SC fan into making those remarks.

However, the TFF's Disciplinary Committee found Eymael guilty of the offense and handed down the punishment.

It's worth noting that Eymael had previously coached AFC Leopards and three clubs in South Africa, and his actions have sparked outrage from football stakeholders and the South African Football Association (SAFA).
