Edgar Obare Released on KES 100,000 Bail

Edgar Obare, a prominent Kenyan blogger, has been released on a KES 100,000 bail following his arrest by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kisumu on Thursday.

According to Xtian Dela, a fellow blogger, Obare was represented by lawyer Kepher Ojijo in court. Dela shared the news on his social media handles, expressing gratitude to those who supported Obare during his ordeal.

Obare was charged with disclosing personal data in a case involving Natalie Wanjiru Githinji, popularly known as Natalie Tewa. He was arraigned at Kiambu Law courts on Monday.

Obare had earlier revealed on his Instagram stories that he was arrested by many officers from his home and taken to Nairobi. He expressed gratitude to his supporters in a post shared on his Insta stories.

“Yup!! Edgar Obare is finally out on a cash bail of Ksh 100,000!!..It’s been a crazy couple of days but THANKS to everyone who came through!!! Thanks to my (our) lawyer @OjijoKepher for the solid representation!! Yes!! His Teaness is OUT!!!!!!!!” Dela wrote.
