Edgar Obare Faces Charges for Unlawful Disclosure of Personal Data

On August 3, 2020, Edgar Obare appeared in the Kiambu law court, where he was charged with unlawful disclosure of personal data contrary to section 72 (3) (b) as read with section 73 of the Data Protection Act No. 24 of 2019.

The court is currently determining Edgar's eligibility for cash bail.

According to the charge sheet, Edgar is accused of disclosing personal data belonging to Natalie Wanjiru Githinji, a visa holder, to his online followers without her consent.

The alleged offense took place between July 9 and 13, 2020, at an unknown location in Kenya.

The complainant in the case is social media influencer Natalie Tewa, while the witness list includes IP Ole Sena and PC Amin.
