On Monday, Kenya confirmed 544 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country's total caseload to 22,597, according to the Ministry of Health.
Published on August 3, 2020, the Ministry also announced that fatalities have risen to 382 after 13 more patients succumbed to the virus.
Health Ministry Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman gave the update, stating that 263 patients have been discharged from various hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 8,740.
Dr. Aman expressed his gratitude to healthcare workers for their efforts, saying, 'We congratulate our health care workers for this effort.'
Among the fatalities was a nurse, Marian Awuor Adumbo, from Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, who had underlying conditions.
Dr. Aman extended his condolences to the nurse's family and friends, saying, 'Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of nurse, Marian Awuor Adumbo who succumbed to Covid-19 at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital yesterday evening. May her soul rest in peace.'
Dr. Aman also urged the public to take extra precautions during the cold season, advising them to dress warmly, maintain social distance, wear masks, and stay hydrated.
