Kenya has recorded 544 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country's total caseload to 22,597, according to the Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman.
The new cases were identified from a pool of 2,653 samples, with 499 being Kenyans and 45 foreigners. The youngest case is a one-year-old infant, while the oldest is 84 years old.
Nairobi produced the highest number of new cases, with 412 cases recorded, mostly in Langata (50), Westlands (48), Dagoretti North (43), and Embakasi East (37).
Other counties that recorded new cases include Kiambu (27), Machakos (17), Kajiado (17), Garissa (16), Uasin Gishu (14), and Mombasa (9).
Meanwhile, 263 COVID-19 patients have been cleared of the virus, raising the country's total number of recoveries to 8,740. Of these, 176 are from the Home-based Care program, while 87 have been discharged from various hospitals.
Unfortunately, 13 more people have succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of fatalities from COVID-19 to 382. Among the latest fatalities is a nurse in Kisii County who succumbed to the disease shortly after giving birth.
