Paris Saint-Germain's sporting director Leonardo is on the hunt for a new centre-half to replace departing defender Thiago Silva, and Liverpool's Joel Matip has emerged as a potential target.
According to Cameroon news outlet kick442, PSG are readying an approach for Matip, who has established himself as a trusted member of Jurgen Klopp's squad despite missing over 60 matches due to various injuries since joining in 2016.
Matip has made just 13 appearances in all competitions this season, but his experience and defensive skills make him an attractive option for PSG, who are looking to strengthen their defence after losing Thiago Silva and Edinson Cavani.
PSG have already signed Mauro Icardi on a permanent deal to replace Cavani, but a replacement for Thiago Silva remains a priority for Leonardo and coach Thomas Tuchel.
Other targets mentioned include Kalidou Koulibaly and Jose Gimenez, but both would likely cost in excess of Sh10.5 million (£75m).
Matip's injury record may be a concern, but a £50m approach has been touted, making him a more modest option compared to other targets.
It remains to be seen whether PSG's reported interest in Matip is genuine, but the link has sparked a debate among Liverpool fans about the value of the player.
