Kenya's Covid-19 Caseload Reaches 22,597 After 544 New Cases

On Monday, Kenya's Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rashid Aman announced that the country's coronavirus caseload had risen by 544, bringing the total to 22,597.

According to Dr. Aman, 2,653 samples had been tested in 24 hours, increasing the total number of samples analyzed in the country since the first case on March 13 to 318,376.

The ministry reported 263 more recoveries, raising the total to 8,740, and 13 more deaths, raising the toll to 382.

Of the new patients, 499 were Kenyans and 45 were foreigners living in the country, with males numbering 315 and females 229. The youngest patient was one year old, and the oldest was 84.

Nairobi, which recorded 412 infections, remained the county with the highest number of new cases. In the capital, Lang'ata recorded 150 cases and Westlands 48.

Dr. Aman addressed the matter of seasonal variations associated with the coronavirus, noting that there had been an increase in cases with the cold season.

He advised those with respiratory conditions to take extra care, highlighting the negative effects of lighting fires in houses and holding gatherings.
