On Friday, detectives from the DCI made a significant breakthrough in the fight against M-Pesa fraud, arresting three suspected notorious fraudsters.

According to the DCI, the suspects had been operating across the country, targeting unsuspecting M-Pesa agents and defrauding them of their cash.

The three suspects, Jacktone Odhiambo Opondo, Millicent Wanjiru Maina, and John Karuku, were arrested on Friday afternoon, with the DCI detectives recovering 3,000 Safaricom lines, both registered and unregistered.

As per the DCI's investigation, the suspects would approach M-Pesa agents, posing as dealers selling sim cards and other products at discounted prices. In the process, they would switch the agents' M-Pesa phones and flush their float.

One of the suspects, Opondo, was arrested at Belbur Nobility Flats in Egerton, Njoro-Nakuru County, while the other two were nabbed at Muigai Inn in Juja, Kiambu County.
