Published on August 3, 2020, a fresh scandal has emerged involving senior officials from the Kenya African National Union (KANU) who allegedly forged Baringo Senator Gideon Moi 's signature.
The alleged forgery occurred in an attempt to sell the party's properties in Kiambu, with Kiambu branch chairman George Wainaina and three others reportedly involved.
Wainaina has denied the allegations, claiming he only saw the forged letter.
The scandal is the latest in a series of court cases seeking to repossess properties allegedly grabbed by former senior members of the party.
Prime properties owned by the independence party are in contention across Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Nyeri, and Isiolo counties.
Wainaina is accused of conspiring with others to defraud the party of two prime properties in Kiambu valued at Ksh100 million.
A letter bearing Moi's name surfaced, claiming that a property in Kiambu had been placed under the stewardship of Wainaina's colleagues.
"Further to our minutes dated 21st February, 2017, regarding sale of party properties, it is hereby resolved that the party sells some plots within Kiambu county to aid the national secretariat and the Kiambu branch run their operations and perform their respective mandates effectively," reads the letter in part.
