Supporters of Newcastle United are reeling from the collapse of a £300m takeover deal backed by a Saudi Arabian consortium.

The deal, which was agreed in April, has been delayed due to concerns over Saudi Arabia's human rights record and its handling of TV piracy.

Greg Tomlinson, a member of the Newcastle United Supporters' Trust, expressed frustration over the lack of transparency in the process, stating that 'answers are needed from the Premier League'.

Michelle George, another supporter, described the situation as 'heartbreaking' and said that fans were 'devastated' by the collapse of the deal.

George, a solicitor, also criticized the Premier League for not taking into account moral issues during the takeover process, saying that 'they should at least tell us what the position was'.

Despite the collapse of the deal, both Tomlinson and George remain hopeful that a new buyer will emerge to take the club forward.

Henry Mauriss, an American businessman, is reportedly interested in buying the club for £350m, but Tomlinson expressed skepticism about the deal.
