IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati has fired back at former Commissioner Roselyne Akombe, accusing her of knowing more about the murder of Chris Msando, the commission's ICT Director, who was found dead in Muguga Forest on August 31, 2017.

Msando's murder remains unsolved three years later, and Akombe's recent claims that his colleagues at IEBC led him to his death have sparked a heated debate.

On July 29, 2020, Akombe tweeted, "Painful that instead, on this day 3 years ago, your own colleagues led you to the slaughterhouse. Like Judas, they sold you for thirty-cents. We will find justice for you, no matter how long it takes," referencing Msando's famous quote, "No dead voters will rise on my watch."

Chebukati has challenged Akombe to provide investigating agencies with information to help unravel the murder, questioning why she is coming out now and not in 2017 when the incident happened.

"It appears there is something she knows which we don’t know. I believe she should provide that information to the investigative agencies. Perhaps it will help for the investigations to be completed," Chebukati told a local daily.
