On a recent weekend, I was excited to spend quality time with my girlfriend Hildah in Western Kenya. The travel ban from Nairobi had been lifted, and I had invited her to visit me.
As we spent the weekend together, I couldn't help but feel a sense of romance and bliss. We went on lunch and dinner dates, watched movies, and visited the beautiful nature sites in my neighbourhood.
However, things took a turn for the worse when we decided to cook a meal together at my place. As a self-proclaimed non-cook, I had to enlist the help of Mama Mboga, our local groceries lady, to purchase the necessary ingredients.
As we shopped together, Mama Mboga couldn't help but comment on how beautiful Hildah was. But what she said next left me feeling embarrassed and ashamed. According to Mama Mboga, Hildah was better than all the other girls I had brought to her stall before.
But then she dropped a bombshell. She said that one of the girls I had visited her stall with was too tall for me and wouldn't make a good mother. Hildah was shocked and hurt by this revelation, and it was clear that our relationship was over.
As I watched Hildah pack her belongings and leave, I couldn't help but think that dating is not for the faint-hearted.
