On July 29, 2020, Mlango Kubwa MCA, Mutheu, was admitted to Nairobi Hospital after being viciously attacked by four police officers at her workplace on July 28, 2020.
According to a letter written by her lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, to the Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, the MCA was attacked for no apparent reason while she was within the precincts of her workplace and not involved in any criminal activity.
"It is worthwhile to note that our client was within the precincts of her work place and it was a plenary day. She was not involved in any criminal activity and was within her rights to be where she was," said Ombeta.
From videos making rounds on social media, the MCA was alone when she was attacked by the four male officers, one of whom even choked and kicked her.
Ombeta said his client was not armed, did not resist arrest, did not attack the said officer nor provoked them in any manner.
"One of the officers (senior) whose tag reads Mwaniki is also seen choking our client and kicking her viciously while she is on the floor," the lawyer added.
Mutheu wants the four officers removed from the force and charged with causing her grievous harm.
