Bondo police OCPD Anthony Wafula died on Monday, July 27, 2020, after developing breathing complications at around 11 pm. He was rushed to Bondo Sub-County Hospital, where he succumbed to his condition at 1 am.
According to a police report, Wafula had returned his children to Nairobi immediately after the lifting of the partial lockdown and only came back a few days ago. Since then, he had been feeling unwell until his condition deteriorated before his death.
Siaya County Police Commander Francis Kooli has confirmed the death, noting that samples have been picked from the late officer's body and taken to the KEMRI lab in Kisumu for testing to ascertain the cause of his death.
