On July 17, 2020, a house party was held at Santonia Court in Kilimani, Nairobi, in contravention of the Covid-19 ban on social gatherings. The party ended in tragedy when one of the participants, Sheila Njeri Murage, was found dead in a flower bed.
Her body was discovered by workers at the property on Saturday morning, with blood oozing from her nose and back injuries. She was also holding a partially smoked marijuana stick.
The house belongs to Claire Chepkoech Nge'no, and the party was attended by Christine Awuor Aluoch and Shem Lwanga Mang'ula. Njeri also attended the party, but the three have contradictory versions of what happened.
According to a friend of Mang'ula, he was drinking at 1824 on Langata Road when he was invited to Nge'no's house. He claimed that it wasn't a party, and only four people were present. However, detectives investigating the case believe that the three have an idea of how Njeri died, as their versions of the events are contradictory.
The police have taken DNA samples, fingerprints, and CCTV footage from the suspects, and the case will be heard at the Milimani Law Courts.
