On the cusp of a significant change, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has proposed the formation of a five-member committee to oversee the transition of the Premier League governing body. This move comes as the mandate of the Kenya Premier League Limited is set to expire in September.

The committee, comprising of FKF Premier League chairmen, includes Dan Shikanda from AFC Leopards FC, Dan Aduda from Tusker FC, Robert Maoga from Kariobangi Sharks FC, Col Erick Oloo from Ulinzi Stars FC, and Ken Ochieng from Zoo FC.

With a clear mandate, the committee has been tasked with drafting proposals on how the FKF Premier League will be run post-KPL. This includes the possibility of clubs voting for an independent chairman to lead the new league body.

At a recent meeting attended by 17 FKF Premier league clubs, the FKF Chief Nick Mwendwa emphasized the federation's commitment to parting ways with KPL after its term expires. The two bodies have been at odds over how the league should be run.

During the meeting, Mwendwa also shed light on the BetKing Kenya – FKF Premier League title sponsorship deal. Under this deal, clubs will receive Ksh 12 million in the coming months, with Ksh 69,333 disbursed one month prior to the official kick-off of the season, Ksh 69,333,300 on or before the end of the third month of the season, and Ksh 69,333,300 on or before the end of the sixth month of the season.

Furthermore, Mwendwa reiterated the federation's support for women's football by committing to channel FKF's license fee of Ksh 10 million from the deal to the Women Premier League (WPL).
