IRA Commissioner, Blue Shield Insurance Managers Charged with Attempted Property Fraud and Theft

On diverse dates between 5th July 2015 and 31st July 2016, Insurance Regulatory Authority Commissioner Sammy Mutua Makove and Blue Shield insurance statutory manager Eliud Muchoki Muriithi, along with PCF manager John Sifa Keah, allegedly attempted to dispose of property held under trust without authorization, despite a moratorium being in place.

According to the charges, the three individuals attempted to defraud by disposing of the property, which was not authorized by the statutory management body.

Keah is also charged alongside Muriithi with stealing Sh10,295,428 from Blue Shield Insurance Company limited, a property that came into their possession due to their employment as statutory managers.

The alleged theft occurred on diverse dates between 16th September 2011 and 3rd July 2014.

During a court appearance before Senior Principal Magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot, the accused persons denied the charges and were released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000 each.
