On July 20, 2020, Kenya reported a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 13,771. This rise is attributed to 418 new patients testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

Four patients have lost their lives to the virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 238. The youngest victim was a one-year-old infant, while the eldest was 86 years old.

According to the Health Chief Administrative Secretary, 494 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, with 465 of them being from the home-based care system and 29 from various hospitals.

Speaking during the daily COVID-19 press briefing, the CAS emphasized the importance of not stigmatizing patients, stating, “Over 5000 have turned positive and recovered. There is no reason to stigmatize patients. This will hamper efforts to contain the disease.”

Nairobi and Mombasa counties continue to record the highest attack rates, with Nairobi having 7,744 cases and Mombasa with 1,835 as of the previous day. Kiambu was third with 769 cases.

Additionally, 526 health workers have tested positive for COVID-19.
