On the heels of a Sh1.2 billion sponsorship deal with the Kenyan Premier League, BetKing has now pledged Sh100 million to support the Division One League for the next five years.
According to Football Kenya Federation boss Nick Mwendwa, the deal marks a significant milestone in the history of Kenyan football, with clubs in the division set to receive annual grants worth Sh500,000.
"This is the first time in the history of Kenyan football that the Division One league has attracted a sponsor," Mwendwa said, highlighting the potential for the deal to ease financial burdens on clubs and raise the level of competition in the league.
With this new deal, all three top divisions of Kenyan football are now sponsored by betting companies, with local firm Betika supporting the National Super League and Odibets sponsoring grassroots leagues.
As part of its expansion into the Kenyan market, BetKing plans to establish its base in the country by September, when the sponsorship deals will be officially unveiled.
