On July 20, 2020, Kenya's Cabinet Secretary of Tourism and Wildlife, Najib Balala, ordered an investigation into the harassment of a tourist at Ol Jogi Conservancy in Laikipia County.

According to reports, Mordecai Ogada was allegedly harassed by armed private rangers while on a game drive with his children on a public road.

CS Balala emphasized that the government will not tolerate any form of harassment or intimidation of Kenyans, particularly in and around private conservancies and tourism facilities.

He urged Kenyans to report any incidents of harassment or intimidation, providing facts, so that action can be taken.

"The Government of Kenya and my Ministry will not condone any undue harassment or intimidation of Kenyans who are going about their normal businesses and enjoying their God-given heritage by anyone," CS Balala said.
