Charles Bukeko, the beloved Kenyan actor behind the iconic character Papa Shirandula, passed away on Saturday at the age of 58. His widow, Beatrice Ebbie Andega, revealed the circumstances of his death, stating that he had been waiting for hospital admission in Nairobi when he fell ill.

According to Ms. Andega, Mr. Bukeko had been busy in the days leading up to his death, mingling with many people, which may have contributed to his contracting the illness that ultimately led to his passing.

As a popular actor, Papa Shirandula was known for his charismatic on-screen presence in the long-running series of the same name on Kenya's Citizen television. His character, a burly and bubbly watchman, was a fan favorite, and his passing has left a void in the entertainment industry.

Mr. Bukeko's legacy extends beyond his on-screen work, as he also landed leading roles with international brands such as Coca Cola and Fifa. His impact on the careers of many current actors, who credit him with kick-starting their own careers, is a testament to his enduring influence in the industry.
