On Saturday, Senator Johnstone Sakaja found himself on the wrong side of the law, arrested by police officers at a Kilimani bar for violating the government's curfew orders.

According to reports, Sakaja was drinking outside the pub with three others at around 1 am, a clear breach of the rules.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Sakaja and his lawyers showed up at Kilimani Police Station on Sunday morning to record a statement.

During the statement, Sakaja took responsibility for his actions, saying,

"I take responsibility for having flouted the Covid-19 rules, I was outside my home past 9pm…It is regrettable but all of us make mistakes."
