On July 19, 2020, unconfirmed reports emerged on social media claiming that Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna had been hospitalized at a Nairobi hospital.

However, Oguna took to Twitter to clarify the situation, stating, 'We have noted reports on social media purporting that I have been admitted in hospital. I wish to clarify that I am well and just got back from an assignment out of town.'

His statement came in response to claims that he had tested positive for coronavirus alongside two unidentified Cabinet Secretaries from Nyanza and Rift Valley.

It is worth noting that only two top government officials have been confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 disease, although their identities remain unknown.

As of July 19, 2020, the number of COVID-19 cases in Kenya stood at 13,353, with 5,122 recoveries and 234 fatalities.
