July 20, 2020 - Jambojet, a leading low-cost carrier in Kenya, has taken a significant step towards digital innovation by introducing a progressive web app (PWA) that allows customers to book tickets, check-in, and access their boarding passes on their smartphones.

The PWA, which is available on both Android and iOS, offers convenience to customers while streamlining processes, saving time, and reducing physical touch points. According to Jambojet's Head of Information Systems, Benjamin Collins, the PWA consumes less data and is reliable even in uncertain network conditions.

“Unlike standard mobile apps or the web, PWAs are designed to provide a seamless user experience, and we are committed to continuing to offer innovative solutions that meet our customers' needs,” Collins said.

The growth of Kenya's digital population has been a key driver for Jambojet's decision to go fully digital. Collins added that the company will continue to update the app with more functionalities to streamline the customer journey.

Customers can access the PWA by visiting the Jambojet website, where they will receive a prompt to add the app to their device. Once added, the PWA will be available on the homepage of their smartphone or tablet, allowing them to access it at any time.

Some of the benefits of having the PWA include instant notifications of upcoming trips, tracking flight status, and receiving automated updates on any delays or changes to their itinerary.
