Charles Bukeko, a beloved actor and comedian, was remembered by his family and colleagues on Monday as he was laid to rest at his home in Nanderema-Funyula, Busia County.
According to his wife, Beatrice Andega, Bukeko had been working tirelessly for three weeks, often returning home late at night and complaining of feeling cold.
On the day of his death, Bukeko had taken tests for pneumonia, malaria, and COVID-19 at Karen Hospital, but was waiting for the results when he passed away.
His wife described the events leading up to his death, saying, 'For the last three weeks, they were working day and night. On Monday, I tell him you have been in cold, go to the hospital and do tests. I told him make sure they do three tests on you, Pneumonia, Malaria and Covid-19.'
His burial was attended by fellow actors and comedians from his Citizen TV program, Papa Shirandula, as well as other mourners who traveled from Nairobi.
Due to COVID-19 guidelines, those who traveled from Nairobi were seated in a separate tent, and locals were advised to avoid contact with them.
The burial was conducted in accordance with the set guidelines for COVID-19 related deaths.
