Regional low-cost carrier Jambojet has taken a significant step towards accelerating digitization in the region by introducing a Progressive Web App (PWA) that enables customers to book tickets, check in, and access their boarding pass on their smartphones.

According to Jambojet's Head of Information Systems, Benjamin Collins, the PWA is available on both Android and iOS and offers convenience to customers while streamlining processes, saving time, and reducing physical touch points.

“Unlike the standard mobile apps or the web, PWAs consume less data and are reliable even in uncertain network conditions,” Collins explained. “This is part of our commitment to continue offering innovative solutions that are responsive to our customer needs.”

The PWA is specifically designed to cater to Kenya's increasing digital population, who are eager to save time as they prepare for travel.

“We will keep updating the app with more functionalities to streamline the customer journey,” Collins added.

Customers can access the PWA on the Jambojet website through a mobile device, where they will receive a prompt to add the app to their device. Once added, the PWA will be available on the homepage of their smartphone or tablet, allowing them to access it at any time.

Additionally, customers who use the app will receive notifications of upcoming trips, track their flight status, and receive automated updates on any delays or changes to their itinerary.
