On July 20, 2020, the burial of celebrated actor Papa Shirandula turned into a scene of accusations against Karen Hospital. The hospital has been blamed for Shirandula's death, with his wife, Beatrice Andega, accusing them of negligence.

According to Beatrice, the hospital only carried out a COVID-19 test, ignoring other required tests such as malaria and pneumonia. She claimed that hospital staff dragged their feet in attending to her husband when she took him for treatment on Saturday, and that they didn't consider his condition an emergency.

Beatrice revealed that her husband died while seated on a car seat, yet to be admitted to the hospital. She also stated that he had requested for three tests - malaria, pneumonia, and COVID-19 - but the hospital concentrated only on COVID-19.

Shirandula was buried at the family's graveside behind his house, in line with Luhya traditions. His father, Cosmas Bukeko Wafula, said the body was buried facing the homestead to 'guard the family from invasions.'
