On July 18, 2020, the entertainment industry lost a beloved figure, Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula. His wife, Beatrice Andega, has since accused the Karen Hospital of negligence, which she believes may have contributed to his untimely death.
Speaking at her husband's funeral on Monday morning, Ms. Andega recounted the events leading up to his death. She took him to the Karen Hospital on Saturday, but the hospital staff allegedly dragged their feet in attending to his condition, considering it non-emergency.
Ms. Andega claimed that her husband requested three tests: malaria, pneumonia, and Covid-19. However, the hospital staff only concentrated on the Covid-19 test, ignoring the other two. She lamented that the hospital's admission process was complicated, and they did not even admit her husband. 'They did not even admit him. We went to Karen Hospital and the admission process was complicated. I asked them to put him on support because it was an emergency but it was not done,' she said.
Ms. Andega also expressed her frustration with the hospital staff's response to her husband's condition. 'When I asked the doctors whether they did all three, they said no. I asked them why they only focused on COVID-19 while he could also be suffering from something else,' she cried out.
