On July 18, 2020, actor Charles Bukeko, popularly known as Papa Shirandula, died after being taken to the Karen Hospital for treatment.

His wife, Beatrice Andega, has since accused the hospital of negligence, claiming that the staff failed to attend to her husband's condition in a timely manner.

Speaking at her husband's funeral on July 20, 2020, Ms. Andega alleged that the hospital staff did not consider her husband's condition an emergency and that he died while waiting at the hospital.

She also claimed that the hospital concentrated only on testing for Covid-19, ignoring her husband's requests for tests for malaria and pneumonia.

However, Papa Shirandula's father, Cosmas Bukeko, has denied that his son died from Covid-19 complications, stating that the family requires further explanation from the hospital on the events of the day he died.

He announced that the family will engage a lawyer to get proper information from the hospital and will travel to Nairobi to do so.

The body of Papa Shirandula was laid to rest at 8:45am after a brief burial ceremony.
