On July 20, 2020, the body of Charles Bukeko, a renowned actor and comedian, arrived at his Namisi-Bukeko village home in Nanderema, Funyula in Busia County, marking the beginning of his final journey.
The body was transported from Nairobi, arriving at 3:40am, accompanied by two buses of mourners who were received by health officials under strict Covid-19 protocols.
While the burial attracted significant attention in the area, health protocols were strictly observed, with mourners from Nairobi isolated in a separate tent erected at the far end of the compound.
Locals were instructed not to mingle with them, and their body temperature and contact details were taken upon arrival.
The burial was scheduled to take place by 8am, as indicated by health officials.
