Lucy Atieno Hareter's family is grappling with the loss of their loved one, who allegedly took her own life in Vienna, Austria, two weeks ago due to depression.

According to her brother James Auka, who is also the family spokesperson, Atieno had called a friend and the police station in Vienna before her death, informing them that she was struggling with depression and was no longer able to care for herself and her siblings.

Atieno, 35, had reportedly been struggling financially after her business went down, and was feeling overwhelmed by requests for money from her siblings.

On July 5, Atieno took her own life by throwing herself onto the railway line at the Bahnhof Atzgersdorf train station in Vienna's 12th district, where she was struck by a train at 3:05 pm local time.

Her body is currently at the Wien Bestatting Funeral home and Crematorium in Vienna, where she will be cremated on July 29, as per the family's wishes.

Atieno's ashes will then be buried at her family's home in Seme Reru, Kisumu, a week later.
