On July 5, 2020, Lucy Atieno Hareter, a 35-year-old Kenyan woman, allegedly took her own life by throwing herself onto the railway line at the Bahnhof Atzgersdorf train station in Vienna, Austria.
According to her brother James Auka, who is also the family spokesperson, Atieno had called a friend and a police station in Vienna, informing them of her intention to take her life due to depression.
Atieno's family had decided to cremate her on July 29, 2020, in Vienna, and then bury the ashes at their home in Seme Reru, Kisumu, a week later.
As reported by police in Vienna, Atieno's body is currently at the Wien Bestatting Funeral home and Crematorium in Vienna, where she will be cremated on July 29, 2020, according to her family's wishes.
