Published on July 20, 2020, the latest development comes as the Ministry of Health reported 688 new positive cases, the highest daily number so far, on Saturday.
According to Kiambu County Police Commander, 20 remandees have tested positive for the new coronavirus at various cells in Thika and Makongeni.
Of the 20 cases, three were tested at Thika Police Station, while 17 others tested positive at the Makongeni police station.
The cases are from 68 samples tested last week after two remandees showed symptoms of the coronavirus.
Police officers from various stations within the county were also tested and are waiting for their test results.
So far, six police officers within Kiambu County have tested positive for the new coronavirus since the outbreak.
