On a dominant day at the Hungaroring, Lewis Hamilton secured his eighth win in Hungary and his 86th career victory, taking the championship lead from Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas.

Hamilton's masterful performance saw him start from pole position and collect a bonus point for the fastest lap, leaving him five short of Michael Schumacher's all-time record of 91 wins.

Max Verstappen took second place for Red Bull, despite crashing on the way to the grid and requiring his mechanics to fix the damage before the start.

Verstappen was awarded 'drive of the day' for his impressive recovery, while Bottas finished third after battling back from a botched start.

Hamilton's win marked his second of the season and his third in a row in Hungary, with the next two races set to take place on home soil at Silverstone.

Verstappen praised his mechanics for their quick work in repairing his car, saying, 'I thought I was not going to race, so to be second is like a victory for me.'

Hamilton also equalled Schumacher's record of winning a grand prix eight times, a feat the Ferrari great achieved in France between 1994 and 2006.
