On July 18, 2020, Kenya witnessed its highest single-day increase in Covid-19 infections, with 688 new cases reported.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the country's cumulative tests stood at 238,163 samples, with 12,750 confirmed cases of Covid-19.
The majority of the cases were reported in Nairobi County, with 7,298 cases, followed by Mombasa with 1,812 cases and Kiambu with 725 cases.
Forty-four out of the country's 47 counties have so far reported a case of Covid-19.
Unfortunately, three more patients succumbed to the disease, raising the tally of fatalities to 225.
On a positive note, the total number of Covid-19 recoveries rose to 4,440 after 457 patients were cured, with 401 of them under the home-based care program and 56 discharged from various health facilities across the country.
